Basic Life Support (BLS)
The Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course offered by Emergency Health Solutions (EHS) is a foundational and essential training program for anyone who needs to know how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and relieve choking. This comprehensive 8-hour course is meticulously designed to align with the latest evidence-based guidelines from the American Heart Association (AHA), incorporating principles from the Southern African Resuscitation Council (SARC) and relevant local Zimbabwean standards.
Course Overview:
Our BLS course provides participants with the critical skills and confidence to respond effectively to life-threatening emergencies until advanced medical help arrives. The curriculum combines vital theoretical knowledge with extensive hands-on practice and realistic scenario-based learning, ensuring participants master the techniques for immediate, life-saving interventions.
Key Learning Areas Include:
Importance of High-Quality CPR: Understanding its profound impact on survival rates.
Chain of Survival: Recognizing the critical steps for adults, children, and infants that improve outcomes from cardiac arrest.
High-Quality CPR Techniques: Mastering effective chest compressions (rate, depth, recoil) and appropriate ventilation using various methods (mouth-to-mask, bag-mask device) for adults, children, and infants.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Use: Learning the importance of early defibrillation and demonstrating the safe and effective application of an AED.
1-Rescuer and 2-Rescuer BLS/CPR: Practicing coordinated resuscitation techniques for both single and multiple rescuers.
Choking Relief: Identifying and performing effective techniques to relieve foreign-body airway obstruction in conscious and unconscious adults, children, and infants.
Team Dynamics: Understanding basic principles of teamwork and communication in multi-rescuer resuscitation scenarios.
Target Audience:
This course is ideal for all healthcare professionals (including nurses, doctors, paramedics, medical students, and nursing students) and any individual who is required to respond to cardiovascular emergencies, such as police, fire personnel, caregivers, teachers, and industrial first responders.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of both theoretical (written exam) and practical (skills testing) assessments, participants will receive a BLS Provider e-card, valid for two years.
